My battery was phenomenal when I first bought this computer. Lasted all day.
Last six months, it would only last an hour. Figured sure, it's getting old, I can live with a shorter battery life. Then it would only last half an hour. Then it stopped giving me a "low battery" warning so I could try to scramble to find a plug on campus, and just shut down. A little less than ideal.
About a week ago, when powering on my computer, a message would pop on the screen letting me know that my batter life isn't lasting as it should and I should consider replacement. It's a busy time of the year, so I figured it could wait a little while longer.
Only, as of today, my battery won't charge. It's plugged into the wall, says "2% available (plugged in, not charging)." This really sucks. I'm a student, I can't afford another computer, this one was supposed to last me through college and then some, but surprise! It only made it three years.
I don't know where to find a replacement battery, how to make sure it's the right one, or if I can even afford it. I'm more than a little frustrated, and then I come to HP for help and they want to charge me if I call because my laptop is too old (warranty expired). I'm not impressed, I'm very frustrated at the moment, and I don't wish to take this out on a poor customer service rep or anyone on here. Just please understand that I need a laptop for college and this last semester has been a poor experience, and I don't know how I could make it another semester with this being in it's current state. I loved this computer, I don't have means to get another right now.
Help much appreciated.

Hello Karen,
Im sorry to hear about your trouble. Unfortunately, no MFG is going to give free support after the warranty is up. Thats just how it is. Most any brand has a one year warranty. HP does offer to let you extend the warranty if you do so within the first year of ownership.
That battery was discontinued so HP wont have a replacement.
Each model PC has their own shape battery, so usually to find one after a couple years time, you would need to look to a third party manufacturer.
I did find one on Amazon that should work. If you are in the USA, it says it will ship to you within 5 to 10 days.
I cannot guarantee how good it will be as I have no affiliation with it.

Hope it helps. Let us know if you have any other questions.
