Well, after doing a quick search, it seems like I am one of thousands of people that have experienced this massive structural failure of the HP x360 hinge system.  And like many of the accounts I have read, HP tried to blame their hinge design flaw on the buyers.

I was sitting watching TV with the laptop on my "lap" which is exactly how it it supposed to be used, hence the name.  I would open it during commercials, then close it during the shows .  After about an hour, I went to open it and heard a massive CRACKKK ! The right hinge had broken free and literally came through the front screen.  Glass shattered off of the hinge and the screen was now only held on by the left hinge.  Upon examination, the 2-3 screws that are supposed to hold the hinge in place had somehow come out and had fallen out in my lap. Since there is no way for a user to access these screws, clearly it is a design flaw or quality control issue which should be addressed by HP.

Spent 3.5 hours being given the America to India phone support shuffle being transferred back and forth and finally to a number that was a sales pitch for a medical alert bracelet.  Then here.

My laptop is of course just a few months out of warranty,   But as I explained, if I am driving my car that is a few months out of warranty, and the steering wheel comes off in my hand, I will still expect the car company to address this clear design flaw or quality control issue.  From what I have read, this is a VERY common problem certainly not disclosed to me when I purchased the item.  Any solutions out there?
