Hi  @Local-Chi

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how   it can be when your docking station stops functioning properly after a firmware update. I'll certainly do my best to help.

Could you kindly confirm the following information:

  • What is the exact model of your HP laptop?
  • Are you seeing any error messages in Device Manager or Event Viewer?
  • When docked, do the external monitors, USB devices, Ethernet port, and audio devices all fail to function, or are only certain peripherals affected?
  • Have you tested the docking station with another laptop to determine whether the issue is specific to the affected devices?
  • Have you noticed if Windows detects the docking station under Device Manager - Universal Serial Bus controllers or Thunderbolt/USB4 controllers?

In the meantime, kindly try the following   steps and confirm:

  • Check for the latest BIOS update available for your laptop model on the HP Support website.
  • Verify that the docking station firmware is current. HP G2/G20 and G5 docks have separate firmware packages that may need updating after a system firmware change.
  • Open Device Manager and look for any devices displaying a yellow warning icon. If present, please share a screenshot.
  • Under Device Manager, uninstall any entries related to the docking station, Thunderbolt, USB4, or USB controllers, then restart the system and reconnect the dock.
  • If your model supports Thunderbolt, ensure the Thunderbolt Controller Driver and Thunderbolt Software/Control Center are installed and up to date.
  • Test the dock using a different USB-C/Thunderbolt port (if available).
  • If possible, test with a different HP docking station to determine whether the issue is related to the system firmware or the specific dock.

If you could also share:

  • A screenshot of Device Manager when the dock is connected.
  • The full laptop model and BIOS version.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
