Hi peeps,

I've got a small question. I have a HP G62 and im happy with my laptop, but there is 1 think that is a pain in my eye;

The graphics card.

I've read if I put more RAM in my laptop I could use more MB's of my Graphics card wich is yet ~68-128mb

I checked the HP website for details and my G62 supports MAX 8GB RAM

Here's the link

My question is whether it is true that my laptop can really supports 8GB!

And which DDR3 RAM is supported

Thanks, Murat

Hi, Murat:

Below is the service manual for your notebook:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02542455.pdf

Memory upgrade info can be found in chapter 1, page 1-1.

You can install 2 x 4 GB of PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) memory.

Hi,

G62 is a series of dozens of models which support 8GB of RAM. What is yours ? Here is one of them:

    http://www.crucial.com/upgrade/HP+-+Compaq-memory/HP+G6xx+Series/HP+G62-340US-upgrades.html

Your machine probably uses same type of RAM. You can use the above link to check. You can buy from them or use the info to buy elsewhere.

Regards.

Hi:

I would run the Crucial memory upgrade advisor and see what it reports.

http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/

The specs at the link below state the max for the G62-450SA is only 4 GB, but the processor and chipset in your model should be able to support 8 GB of memory as long as you have a 64 bit OS installed.

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02643009

In any event, I would go with whatever the crucial scanner reports.

I cannot provide any info as to where to buy memory unless you are a resident of the United States, as I would have no idea where you can buy it in other countries.

Question:  Will installing DDR3 PC3-12800, CL=11, Unbuffered, NON-ECC, DDR3-1600, 1.35V memory module work, just not at its maximum speed?

Older memory is less available and usually at a higher cost   . . .

Thanks for your help!

The question was related to a G62-222US laptop.

I forgot to ask whether a single 8GB SODIM module is supported.

I reviewed the referenced information in Chapter 1 of the Maintenance and Service Guide and it only shows a 4GB total system memory (2048 x 2) as the largest configuration.

But it does state supports 8GB memory.  Does it have to be 4096 x 2, or is a single 8192 module also supported?

My sis has a G62-a16sl  laptop ..  if I use a 4+2  1333MHz  memory it works perfectly ..  I checked on Crucial website, it certify that 4+4 1600MHz working great .. instead not working (laptop start booting and than reboot. Now: as there are e2 different kind of memory modules: 8+8 chips on a ram module   and 4+4 chips ..   I bought the 4+4 .. possible laptop not works great with 4+4 ??  https://it.crucial.com/ita/it/aggiornamento-compatibile-per/HP---Compaq/hp-g62-a16sl

Using 1 module it works perfectly, with both modules not at all.
