@Ben085,

Thank you, I got it: you provided the information I needed.

OK, your HP G62-Series Notebook as fitted with the SSID: 1484 motherboard, is compatible at least with the following 35-watt processors, the Intel Core 2 Duo T9900 (2-Cores, 2-Threads, 3.07 GHz) being the best:

It is possible that the two "Extreme" 44-watt TDP Dual Core processor could also be compatible (something I would try if your notebook were mine, after all, you can purchase one of them for $23 via eBay), but this would be only relevant if you really wanted to get the very best out of your notebook, and willing to risk it/gamble a bit.

Kind Regards,

Sorry to bother you, but another question: where are the chips again? The ones for the amd graphics stuff i have a pic of my motherboardIMG_0500.jpeg

HP Recommended

@Ben085,

The CPU is situated under the end of the copper heatsink strip, right next to the RAM slots, and you'll find the GPU chip under the large rectangular unit immediately to the right.

Okay. And how do i tell if i can remove it? The exact model is HP G62_220US. Is there a way to remove it or is it soldered?

HP Recommended

Under the large rectangular unit where the heatsink is there is a unit with a screw. Do i remove it to take out the cpu/gpu?

HP Recommended

@Ben085,

You can remove the heatsink, but the iGPU is an integral part of the motherboard and cannot be removed.  The CPU can be removed:

Okay. Just one more question. Even though the stats say the max RAM is 8GB, is it strictly at 8GB or can you put more GB of RAM into it?

kind regards,

Ben085

HP Recommended

@Ben085,

I'm afraid that the max RAM an HP G62 Notebook PC can accept is 2x4GB of DDR3 PC3-8500, 1066 MHz, Non-ECC, SODIMM, 204-pin RAM sticks, as confirmed here, for example.
