I want to upgrade the Hard 500 gb HDD to a 1 TB SSD, but when i install it, it does not see this drive at all. I want to install this first. What steps do i need to take to have the laptop see the drive and let me install windows?

After that i want to install RAM second, I Want to upgrade the RAM from 4 to 16. it will not take the 16 not even one stick of 8. it just errors and keeps rebooting.

@TB007 Here's all you need to know about parts tested and approved by HP to work on your device:

 

Note: I must let you know that HP does not recommend upgrades or hardware changes as the device is equipped with parts that perform at its optimal performance by design, that said, the upgradeable parts listed by HP articles are purely for your ease, as the decision to upgrade will be at your own discretion.

 

That said, you may want to click here to access the HP Maintenance and service guide that would help identify which part is and isn't supported by your device,

I suggest running a keyword search - "HDD" or "Memory" to identify key devices/points.
