Hi, I want to upgrade my HP Gaming Pavilion - 15-cx0012nl Ram mainly for increase performance in video editing .  Is it possible to install 32 GB (16x2)  instead of original 16 GB (8x2)?

Hi:

 

That shouldn't be a problem.

 

The Intel® Core™ i7-8750H can definitely support 2 x 16 GB of DDR4-2666 CL19 or DDR4-3200 CL22 memory, even though the service manual indicates the maximum memory is 2 x 8 GB.

You can run this command to see how much memory your notebook can support:

 

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

 

This will open the command prompt.

 

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.

 

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

 

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
