I wanted to ask one more question experts. When I had my computer made years ago I had an analog TV card installed in my laptop. The antenna has never fit properly but if I jiggle it around I can sometimes get the public TV station and since I don't own a TV it's wonderful to be able to see Masterpiece Theater on my laptop.  I'm thinking of upgrading to window 7 and wondered if I could upgrade the TV card to a digital TV card? I've seen digital antennas on Amazon for under $10.

I have no idea how to check about these things would anybody have any info that might help me answer my query?

Thank you very much for all your help. I'm always grateful to get assistance from the experts on this board. If you think I could get a digital TV card do you know how I would find out which one I need and how I would install it?

Again thanks a lot ~

Hi,

That is 64 million dollars question because your machine is too old and new technology comes out everyday if not every hour. Buying a new machine to day in 3 months time, you can buy a better machine even cheaper.

I can't find a BIOS for your machine saying it supports digital TV card.

Regards.

Hi,

There is s list of part numbers on page 4-13 of the following manual:

                http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01705400.pdf

The manual also shows you how to replace the TV card. The best of option is only to use parts on the list. Now you have to check physically size of card from Amazon and the existing card. Only $10 I would try.

Thanks for the manual :~) the digital antenna is less than $10 that is not the TV card I don't know if I could use a digital TV card in this computer and I also don't know if the digital antenna could be used with my computer. I'm trying to upgrade the memory so this manual will come in handy I'm sure. Thanks for sending it!

Hi,

You need a card, antenna alone won't give you digital channels.

Yes I know I need a card my question was if this laptop card which is analog could be exchanged for a digital card. If so how will I know which one to buy and is it possible for me to install it myself?

Thank you so much for taking time to reply I am very grateful.

Thanks again BH, who knows maybe my analog card will work with Windows 7? Thanks for taking time to answer.  I tried to look in the Bios today to see if there was a way I could tell physically, to see a picture or a graph to know if I have a slot for 4 Megs of new memory. I couldn't see it anywhere. If I didn't love this computer so much perhaps I would consider buying a new one but honestly I paid $ 1700 for this computer and it's 18"HD screen with Blue Ray & it's a beautiful thing.

Thanks again!
