HP Laptop 15-bs0xx SSD upgrade

Hello everyone! I'm looking to upgrade the HDD that came with my laptop to an SSD, mostly to improve performance. I've read that with laptops sometimes only certain types of SSD are supported. If possible, I'd like to learn if swapping my HDD for an SSD is feasible and if so which models or types are supported.

My laptop is a 15-bs0xx and has the following specs

Product number: 1GX60LA#AC8

Processor: Intel (R) Core (TM) i7-7500U CPU @ 2.70GHz

Installed memory (RAM): 12.0 GB

System board: 832A 23.70

OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor

The current HDD is a 1TB model, not sure about the brand or model but it's the one that came with the laptop.

Hi:

You have two options...

Install a M.2 SATA SSD and use the 2.5" drive for storage.

Replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD.

See chapter 1 of the service manual for the supported drive types...

Hey, thanks for your reply! I've chosen to replace the HDD with a SSD. I've read the section you mention but only see 'Single hard drive configuration' and the options for single M-2 / dual storage.

If i were to replace my current 2.5 inch HDD for a 2.5 SSD would any SATA 2.5inch SSD work regardless of storage capacity / transfer speeds? I've found a Wester Digital Blue model that I think might work.

The manual, Chapter 1 page 3, indicates support for dual storage (2.5" + M.2).

Dual storage configurations (Intel Core processors only)
● 256 GB Value SSD + 1 TB HDD
● 128 GB Value SSD + 1 TB HDD

A WD Blue 2.5"  SSD is an excellent choice.

I have a few of those in some of my PC's and a WD Blue 250 GB M.2 SATA SSD in one.

You could go up to 2 GB if you want.
