Quick question for those of you out there with extensively more brainpower than myself. I have a 15-bs0xx with an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.70 GHz processor on an 832A motherboard, originally purchased in 2017. I received this machine for free within the past few weeks and I've done some modifications to it; installed 1x 8gb DDR4 ram and 1x 16gb DDR4 ram (24gb DDR4 total), and a KingSpec 1TB SATA III SSD. It's already increased it's speed by MILES.
I am ballin' on a budget, so to speak. To date, the total cost of upgrades to this machine has been $80. Are there any cost-efficient upgrades to the 832A and Core i5-7th Gen? My hope is to get this machine running as peak as possible, while staying under the cost of a new machine.

You can remove the 8 GB memory chip, install another 16 GB memory chip and have 32 GB of memory running in dual channel mode rather than 24 GB running in single channel mode.
What model Wi-Fi adapter does your notebook have?
if it is only a single band (2.4 GHz) card you can upgrade to this model which you can find on eBay.
Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1×1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) part # L17365-005
The above card is dual band and has a maximum throughput of 433 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi band.
This would be the latest driver for that model card:

Other than that, the model series only supported motherboards that came with up to the Intel 8th gen core processors.
You can find the list of supported motherboards with their HP part numbers in chapter 3 of the manual.
HP 15 Laptop PC (Intel)HP 15g Laptop PCHP 15q Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide
The motherboards that come with Windows product keys have the part number suffix that ends in -601.
If your notebook only has the onboard Intel graphics and you want one with a better GPU, you will need one of the higher wattage (90W) power supplies listed in chapter 3 as well as a different heat sink.
If you are interested in installing W11 on your PC as is, you can read this discussion for how I upgraded several HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's that did not meet the W11 hardware requirements to W11 22H2/22H3
You have to use the version of the Rufus utility that I zipped up and attached in the discussion (v3.18).

If the in-place upgrade fails, you should be able to clean install W11 using the bootable W11 installation flash drive you made with Rufus.
