You should be able to install 2 x 8 GB of DDR4 memory.

 

If your notebook comes with a single 8 GB memory chip you just need to install a second one in the empty slot.

 

HP only has the service manual for the original 17-ca0xx model series available:

 

Maintenance and Service Guide HP 17 Laptop PC

 

A suggested 8 GB memory chip:

 

Timetec Premium 8GB DDR4 2666MHz (DDR4-2666) PC4-21300 ((PC4-2666V) Non-ECC Unbuffered 1.2V CL19 1Rx...

 

The above memory chip would have been around $13 earlier this year, but apparently the need for AI data centers is driving up the cost of memory through the roof.
