I would like to replace my laptop's battery as it the battery itself is old and not healthy, I would like to reach out with HP support regarding to this issue, but there's an error that states, and the support and warranty expires within 14 days.14 days_hp_probook.PNG

Hello, I had to replace the battery on my 15" HP Omen because the old one got swollen. The new one is also HP, not a knock off.

I bought it online as website said new battery was compatible with the part number written on old battery. The specs written on both the old and new batteries are the same (SR04XL, 15.4V, etc), and everything is exactly the same as old battery with very minor changes in the tiny screws in the metal part of the battery to hold it together (not the screws that go into the laptop/these are the same, same spacing etc).

But the part numbers are slightly different. The old battery was 917678-2B1 and new battery is 917678-271. One digit off. Also, old battery said "replace with spare 917724-855", and the new battery is 917678-271 (website said it was compatible with 917724-855).

So, is it compatible as website said? Can I install the new battery without worrying it's not exactly the same part number as the old battery?

Yeah first time doing this 🙂

Thank you
