Hello Community,
My apologies for a super long question/post. I am trying to be as detailed as possible, so that it helps other readers if they have the same question
I recently purchased a new battery PI06 from an online reseller in India claiming to be an original HP Product. Here is what I purchased - https://laptopgallery.in/hp-original-laptop-battery-15-e001ax-6-cell-genuine-notebook-battery
Upon receiving it, I felt suspicious if it is an original battery as claimed by the seller. So I performed few checks mentioned here on hp website: - https://support.hp.com/in-en/original-part-features
I did the below checks:
1) The box and packing
There is no hologram (as per the above link, there should be blue), but the box i got shows golden sticker - as on the left
The box looks like this on the left - again doubtful
2) Scanned the Bar-Code sticker on the battery with 3 different android apps
- My current HP OEM battery: has CT: 6DGAL01C84N4PN printed sticker. The app reads as follows
- New battery has CT : 6HJMNS8SM4ZBJE printed sticker- All three apps failed to read the bar-code. Just once it read like below:
3) Scanned the QR Code on battery -
- My OEM battery does not have a QR code
- The new battery has a QR code - which reads like below:
4) Box reads "Product of China", and also reads "Manufactured in HP Singapore" and imported by "HP India Sales, Bangalore"
5) I dont have a warranty card - do we get warranty card along with a new battery? (there is a warranty document write up though)
PS - The battery fits perfectly on my laptop. Used only for 5 minutes in hurry
On the contrary, the seller says the battery is 100% HP Genuine product.
My Questions:
1) I request your view on this, do the above findings make sense? Or is there any other way to find if it is a genuine product?
2) Is there any inbuilt software on HP Laptops to figure out if it is a genuine spare?
Thank you in advance.
Cheers

If you have received a genuine HP battery, it will be mentioned as " Replace with HP spare followed by the product number "
You can also use this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00821572 to double check with the part number.

@Raj - Thank you for your response.
The fake product industry has grown so big, they do not leave any stone unturned to display that it is a genuine product.
Mentioning that one line would be a piece of cake for them.
I would request the forum members to read through my arguments and provide guidance.
Cheers

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
