This is my backup laptop and wondering if I should upgrade or replace based on cost?
Model: G7-2247us Product: C5E4OUA#ABA
What would be good vs. best upgrade?
I would like to do this myself, but have never done a CPU upgrade on a laptop.

Here is the Service Manual:
Top 2 CPU options:
Intel Core i7-3632QM (2.2 GHz, SC turbo up to 3.2 GHz, 1600 MHz/6 MB L3
cache, quad core, 35 W)
701658-001
Intel Core i5-3230M (2.6GHz, turbo up to 3.2 GHz, 1600 MHz/3 MB L3 cache,
dual core, 35 W)
711903–001
The i7 would be a huge improvement over your i3. Max memory for the Quad Core i7 would be 16 gb DDR3L-1600 SO-DIMM even though the Manual says 8gb and you could install a 2.5 inch SATA SSD.
Processor is in the $80-100 range for the i7. If you do these upgrades you still have a laptop that is on the edge of obsolete, but would be much more useable than it is now and would give a couple more years's service. If you do the work yourself, maybe $200 in parts vs. $1000 for a new laptop.
Post back if you need more help and please accept as solution if this si the info you needed.
