15-DB0048CA Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This is a strange occurrence, my HP model 15-DB0048ca Laptop (4 months old, bought from BestBuy) in a twist, 'decided' to Not recognize my ac adapter. Yet, I replace the AC adapter with the Correct HP part (not a cheap purchase) so I wasnt dependent on the battery, still no help. But this is when it gets Weird....

IF I shut it off, either one of the AC adapters charges the Laptop perfectly fine in a timely manor weather the lid is open or closed. So I know its not the adapter, nor is the problem the Jack or plug on the laptop. And no, I havent taken the laptop apart and No the battery is Not removable (so that limits my trouble shooting tips right there since I dont want to void my 1 year manufactures warranty with HP).

So, I nab my warranty card, serial number & CALL HP for a hand, performed every test instructed to me by HP customer support, in the diagnostic tool everything passes except the AC adapter(s).... They werent recognized. the little charging lights were on, I know both adapters work, so I was sent an empty box from HP. With instructions and Postage Paid to return the unit to them so it can be repaired. So I packed it up and returned it to HP placing my trust in them to Right the Wrong that happened.

THEN I started using my OLD HP laptop, googled HP laptop repairs and read all sorts of horror stories. 😕

I treated this laptop with more care and love than I did my first born child... No spillage, no knocks, no bumps, no bruises on the unit.... So why am I so worried that HP is going to 'screw me' and 'Blame' the problem on the customer (that be it I)? Never had an HP product fail on me since I first started using the brand in 1995.

What do you guys think went wrong?? Did I make a mistake by sending it back to HP for repairs instead of paying for a private HP licensed vendor to repair it?

And yes, I am a bit of a pessimist.

I guess I just need to be put at ease.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
