HP Envy x360 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-fc0000 (8Z8M1AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Envy x360 stopped working 3 months after its warranty expired. I took it to multiple repair shops who told me that the motherboard needed to be replaced and gave me estimates from $500-$900 to fix it. How can I contact HP about this problem? Since it is common for HP x360 motherboards to break, I feel like HP should be responsible for this issue.

Hello eveeochoa.

Many of us, users like yourself, have various feelings about what multinational corporations -especially laptop manufacturers- should and should not be allowed to do. However, feelings will not change reality and if a warranty has expired -even for 1 day- any malfunction is not covered by it. If this were not true, there would be no reason to purchase extended warranty, something I personally always do after having my first HP motherboard fail on me without any warning.

You have not explained the specifics about your laptop's malfunction, and certain motherboard level failures can be fixed by the appropriate technicians. Not all repair shops work at the motherboard level, fixing soldering points gone bad, replacing capacitors and other faulty components, reflashing the BIOS or even changing the BIOS chip, etc, etc, etc. If indeed this motherboard is beyond repair, the best thing to do is find a cheap refurb and harvest the working motherboard or buy a used standalone motherboard replacement online. Getting a new motherboard for any laptop does not make any sense since in most cases it will cost more than a brand new machine......
