OMEN by HP Transcend 16 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-u0000 (765S3AV)

I am having problems with the charging port on the laptop. If I use it while connected it would discharge. It only charges if turned off. Any suggestions? It is under warranty, but not in the country.

I was thinking about changing the port, any links to buy them?

The Maintenance & service guide does not show the DC-in plug as a separate part.

It appears to be a soldered on part of the notebook's system board, not a separate module.

If you can still charge the laptop while it is turned  off, that would indicate to me that the charging port is ok.

Does the power/charging LED turn on while it is charging?  What color does the LED show?

Are you able to test the battery with the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI utility?

How about doing a system test.

When turned off, the computer charges and the light is orange.

When turned off, when it is fully charged, the light is white.

After it turns on, the light turns off, neither white nor red.

Both of those are normal indications.

What do you mean by, "it discharges when plugged in"?

Are you using the power adapter the laptop was delivered with?

A third party replacement power adapter is unlikely to have enough wattage.

Depending on the specific discrete graphics adapter it has, the original adapter could be a 230/280 or 300 Watt unit.

"What do you mean by, "it discharges when plugged in"?"

Even when plugged in, if it is on (I am using it), it will start to discharge.

"Are you using the power adapter the laptop was delivered with?"

Yes, the original. It is 230W

Run the tests and provide the results.

Also, when ACPI driver is uninstalled or deactivated, battery percentage jumps to 100%.

Did it do that from right out of the box?

You might try resetting the (EC) embedded controller and a hard reset.
