I have an old HP Omen 17-w151nr laptop. I'm considering adding an HDD to my laptop, but all I can find is the hp part numbers for the drive, connectors, and bracket, and the hp parts site says they are not available. I'd like to find the specs so I can just buy them in other places. Can I learn what SATA interfaces and connectors it supports?
Here's what was in the manual:
1 TB 5400 RPM SATA RAW HYBRID 8 GB 731999-005
2 TB 5400 RPM SATA RAW 9.5 mm 801808-005
1 TB 7200 RPM SATA RAW 9.5 mm 766644-005
Hard drive connector and cable 862964-001
Hard drive brackets with rubber 911227-001

Hi:
It looks like this seller on eBay has the whole kit...

The specs of your machine is
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05301915
It has 512 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD now. Do you wish to add (not replace) HDD ? You can use all standard 2.5" HDD's (or SSD's) on market today and you need
- Hard drive connector and cable part # 862964-001
- Hard drive brackets with rubber part # 911227-001
to keep HDD/SSD in place. You have to use par numbers to search ONLINE including eBay.
For SSD, I recommend you use Crucial MX500 because I know Crucial supplies 9.5mm adapter to increase thickness of the drive , I can't see other vendors do. For example

Regards.

I wish to add an HDD to the existing SSD. I see I have an empty slot right now. When I shopped for HDDs I see many specs about SATA versions etc and have no idea what will be compatible. I had seen those specs but they don't have this information, or at least I cannot find it there.

I gave you a link to the compatible kit you need to add a 2.5" drive to your PC.
I don't understand what you mean by specs.
The drive connector is SATA 3 and you need a 2.5" SATA 3 (6.0 GB/S) HDD.
7.200 RPM or 5,400 RPM is fine.
If you can't find a 2.5" x 9.5mm HDD, you can also use the 7.0 mm thick size too.
Personally, I would be adding a 2.5" SATA SSD instead of a slow-poke mechanical hard drive.
