Hi @Duwan,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Omen 15-dh1070wm is experiencing inconsistent charging behavior and the charger gets hot, there are several potential issues to consider. Here's a comprehensive guide to help diagnose and resolve the problem:

1. Check the Power Adapter and Cable

  • Physical Damage: Check the power adapter and cable for any visible damage or fraying. A damaged charger can cause inconsistent charging or overheating.
  • Connector: Ensure that the connector fits securely into both the laptop and the power outlet.
  • Compatible Charger: If possible, test with another compatible HP charger to determine if the issue is with the charger or the laptop itself.

2. Check the Battery Health

  • Windows Battery Report: Open Command Prompt (Admin) and type powercfg /batteryreport, then review the generated report for battery health and charging history.
  • HP Support Assistant: Use HP Support Assistant to run a battery test and check its health.
  • If the battery is old or failing, consider replacing it with a new one.

3. Inspect the Charging Port

  • Clean the Port: Ensure that the charging port is free of debris and dirt. Use a can of compressed air or a soft brush to clean it.
  • Physical Damage: Check the port for any signs of physical damage. A damaged port may need repair or replacement.

4. Update or Reinstall Drivers

  • Device Manager: Open Device Manager (right-click Start button > Device Manager), expand Batteries, right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, and select Update driver.
  • BIOS Update: Visit the HP support website to check if there is a BIOS update available for your model. Follow their instructions to update the BIOS if needed.

5. Perform Power Reset:

  • Turn Off: Shut down the laptop.
  • Disconnect: Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
  • Hold Power Button: Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds.
  • Reconnect: Reinsert the battery, plug in the power adapter, and turn on the laptop.

6. Test Different Power Outlets

  • Plug the charger into a different power outlet to rule out issues with the outlet or power source.

7. Investigate Software Issues

  • Windows Settings: Go to Settings > System > Battery and check if any settings might be affecting charging.:
  • HP Support Assistant: Use HP Support Assistant to check for any issues or recommended actions related to power and battery.

8. Check for System Updates:

  • Ensure that Windows is up-to-date by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
