HP Omen 15-ce018dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello All,

I have this Omen HP 15-ce018dx laptop I purchased a few years ago and recently found as I was unpacking boxes from my move. I went ahead and did a fresh windows install on it as well as updating software and drivers.

The issue I run into is if I have any static buildup and touch the computer it completely turns off. I noticed other people had this same issue and it appears to be due to a defect in some grounding wire for the computer. I contacted HP support and they said they are completely unable to help due to the device being end of life.

I was curious on if people had any self-solutions or possible recommendations for a repair place that may be able to assist with getting this issue fixed, I would hate to just have to get rid of the laptop entirely due to this issue.

Thanks in advance!

To protect itself from damage, it may switch itself off. I don't know the mechanical inside, could be BIOS controls this.

Touching machines during Winter could be a hazard. I used to get shock when opening my car on Winter months, I had to change my shoes. I worked on few data centers before. One of our rule: wear anti static wrist strap and earth ourselves before touch to machines. At home, I actually sit on an anti static carpet.

Hope this makes sense.

Regards.
