OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-xd0000 (758R0AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, I have an HP Omen xd0015ax laptop and I'm confused about the SSD upgrade options. Different websites give conflicting information — some say the laptop has one M.2 NVMe slot, while others say it has two.

I want to confirm:

  1. How many M.2 NVMe SSD slots does the HP Omen xd0015ax actually have?

  2. Does the laptop support PCIe Gen4 only, or can it also run PCIe Gen5 SSDs (even at reduced speeds)?

  3. What is the maximum SSD capacity supported in each slot and overall (e.g., 1TB, 2TB, 4TB, etc.)?

I want to upgrade storage but need the correct technical information.

Thank you!

Hi:

The Omen 16-xd0xxx model series has support for one M.2 NVMe SSD.

The Omen 16-xf0xxx model series is the one that has support for two M.2 NVMe SSD's.

The notebook can support PCIe Gen 5 x 4 SSD's but they will not run at their maximum advertised read/write speeds from the Gen 4 slot your notebook has.

Theoretically, there is no limit to the storage capacity of the NVMe SSD you can install as long as it is single-sided so that it fits in the slot.

Crucial sells 4 TB NVMe SSDs for the model series.
