Spectre X360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Spectre X360 whose hard drive I replaced about a year ago with a 1 TB SSD: Crucial_CT1050MX300SSD4

I have recently had some random crashes, and also unable to copy off a very large (2.2 GB) file to an external drive as it fails in the middle of copying with "Can't read from source file or disk".  Looking at MS Tools Drive C shows no errors, but when I ran a Check the PC crashed at some point during it. I ran the HP diagnostic tools quick storage test on it and the drive returned Failed and the code: GW7L9T-7SWA3E-MFPWMF-60U913

Is there anyway to determine what the code means? Note that my PC is still functioning 99.9% normally except trying to copy the file noted above, and an occasional (maybe once a month) crash that I thought could have even been application related.

Thanks for anything you can share!

Hi:

The failure code reported, Hard Disk 1 Quick Test Failure, means the drive needs to be replaced and the operating system reinstalled.

The code doesn't tell you more than that other than the serial number of the PC.

Hopefully your Crucial SSD is still under warranty, and you can request a RMA.

Thanks much for the quick response! I expected that was the case but hoped for a drive.failure=none config file fix. 🙂

Its out of warranty and the drive was spec compliant based on an HP tech manual that showed this model could have a 1 TB drive, but there were no options sold by HP so I am out of compliance anyway. I have a good local tech company that installed it and transferred the data from my old factory installed 500 GB drive so I can engage them. I will make another post asking if anyone has a 1 TB (or larger preferably) drive recommendation for this model HP Spectre X360.

Thanks again

You're very welcome.

The Crucial model was fine, IMHO.

Sometimes drives just go bad.
