Hello,

I have tried to upgrade my HP laptop with  samasung  970 Evo plus 250 GB NVMe PCle ssd . But it looks like this model is not compatible with NVme drive. The  slot in the mother board looks different and not able to install the SSD drive.

Kindly  advise

I can't come to your house and do this. The gold leads on the SSD plug into the M.2 slot...short lead into the short part of the slot wide lead in the wide part. Start it in at an angle with rear part of SSD up at about a 30 degree angle...push leads in and then lower the back of the SSD and fix it in place with the screw.

What do you mean ? Are you sure you look at the right place ? You may need to install the following parts first

  • Solid-state drive carrier part # L24936-001
  • Solid-state drive board part # L24937-001
  • Solid-state drive cable part # L24938-001

Regards.

Hi Mani,

You do not need the parts which @banhien has stated in his reply above. Those parts are only used to install a SATA3 SSD in the spot the 2.5" HDD fits.

Now you have opened the PC and do you see the M2 slot? Sometimes the physical slot is missing on the motherboard in notebooks that did not come with M2 SSD. The 970 Evo Plus is compatible with your notebook.

Here you can see the slot and how it fits. You will need the screw to hold the SSD in place. You need to insert the M2 SSD at an angle and then push it down.

yours will have just one notch, but it is the sameyours will have just one notch, but it is the same

Here you can see a video on how to insert an SSD (it is not of your computer)

Hope it helps,

Hi Banhein,

Thanks, what is this slot ? Why it is different.

Can't understand the problem. That is an M.2 slot for a 2280 M.2. Will work with either a SATA (B + M key) or NVME (M key) SSD. Where are you having difficulty?
