Considering upgrading my RAM, an 8GB single board is a little slow. What is the maximum memory frequency/max supported amount of RAM for this laptop? Im guessing 16GB/2666?

Also, what size NVME m.2 will this guy take? 2280? Yes, I have the slot, this isn't a Walmart machine. I keep bumping my head on the 256GB m.2 that is already installed. Debating on upgrading to a Sammy 970 pro, is my slot four lanes?

Hi,

The max RAM for your notebook is 32GB of DDR4 2666MHz (2x16GB) even if the service manual mentions 16GB.

There are two slots and at the moment you have one 8GB module. You can purchase from your preferred brand.

Example:

On page 43 of the service manual, you can see the steps to install the RAM.

Yes, you can upgrade to M2 PCIe NVMe SSD of your desired capacity (no limit to capacity). The form factor is 2280 which will be most any SSD you can find. The Samsung 970 Evo Plus is considered the best price/performance PCIe NVMe SSD on the market.

You will need to reinstall the OS on the SSD.

Hope it helps,

David

David,

With regard to the wifi- I'm kind of into the intel dual band ax200- which is supposed to be available in two sizes, but I only seem to be able to find the larger of the two for sale. Will this laptop take a full size m.2 wifi card, or am I limited to half size cards?

And thanks for the help- It's nice to research this stuff before ordering hardware, as I am sure you know. I have not opened the case on this computer because of the warranty, but once that warranty is up, well, it's on 😄
