I am trying to replace my old HDD drive with a BX500 Crucial 2.5 SSD. I have managed to clone my old drive but when the drive is plugged into the SATA connection of the laptop I get no drive detected or via a USB to SATA connection the drive doesn’t show. But if I use the windows disk management tool the drive shows with all the partitions.
For any ideas I would be mot grateful.

Hi:
The only suggestion I can offer would be to try clean installing W10 on the SSD.
First make the bootable W10 USB installation media with the media creation tool from the link below.
Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)
Remove the 2.5" mechanical hard drive and install the Crucial BX500 in your notebook.
Have the USB installation media plugged into the PC.
Turn on the PC.
Immediately press/tap the ESC key to get the menu of options.
Select the F9 boot options menu and from that, select the USB flash drive and press the Enter key.
Hopefully you will be able to clean install W10 on your new SSD.
You will need to select the version of W10 you want to install (I assume W10 Home).
Then you will be asked to enter a product key.
Select the 'I don't have a product key' option and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.
After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.

If that is the case for some reason, your notebook isn't compatible with that particular model SSD, or none in general.
Very rare, but it happens.
Unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.
