Hi @Ggirl26,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Did the shutdown happen while you were using a specific program or device (like plugging in USB or updating drivers)?
  • Have you recently installed any new updates, drivers, or hardware?
  • When you try to restart, does the laptop reach the HP logo or Windows loading screen, or does it stop immediately with the error?

Here are a few initial steps you can try:

Basic Recovery

  • Perform a hard reset: Disconnect power, remove any external devices, then hold the power button for 15 seconds before trying to restart.
  • Boot into Safe Mode: If possible, press F11 during startup to access recovery options, then choose Safe Mode.

Driver & Hardware Checks

  • The error code DRIVER_PNP_WATCHDOG often points to a driver or hardware initialization issue. If you can reach Safe Mode, try uninstalling any recently added drivers or updates.
  • Disconnect external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.) and attempt to boot again.

System Recovery

  • If Safe Mode doesn’t work, you may need to use Windows Recovery Environment (via F11) to run Startup Repair or System Restore.

I hope this helps.
