HP Pavilion - Plugged in but not charging battery & shuts down

I have an HP Pavilion - only a few years old.

When powered off and plugged in, the battery charges.

When powered on and plugged in ... it shows as connected to power on the task bar - however it runs from the battery and the charge is *not* maintained by being plugged in.

It discharges and the laptop shuts down when the battery charge hits zero (still while plugged in).

NB: Both the battery and the charger have been replaced with authentic HP spares - and the issue persists.

If I remove the battery, wait a minute or so, reconnect it, plug it back in and power it on - it all seems to work fine for a short time (20 minutes or so). Actually charges the battery while powered on. 

However then it stops charging - and runs from battery again until it fully discharges.

Any ideas?

Please let us know the exact name/product number of your Laptop.

Meanwhile, try these steps:

Steps to uninstall the ACPI drivers:

Right-Click on start button> click device manager> Batteries>then select the s drivers and right-click on it and uninstall all battery drivers. 

Then restart the computer and check again.
