HP Notebook - 17z-ca100 CTO
Microsoft Windows 11

My laptop's hinges are broken, and I have not been able to close the screen for months now. It feels as if the screen is hanging on a thread and is so fragile that I cannot move the laptop anywhere. The top cover is broken around the left hinge because of the pressure it had made.

My laptop is out of warranty but after reading how common this is for these laptops I sure hope there is something HP can do. I also learned that there is class action lawsuit against HP for the same exact reason. I should not be accountable to spend my money to fix something that was a defect by the company.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi @liliana93,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

I see that you are facing hinge issues with your HP Notebook - 17z-Ca100 CTO.

This could be a hardware issue with the unit and may need repair.

I suggest that you contact HP Service Center in your location from this weblink: https://support.hp.com/us-en/help/service-center
Note: Select your country from the dropdown,  enter the city or postal code, select the product, change the radius, and click on search to locate the nearest HP Service center near your location.

Hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
