Back again I have a HP Pavilion dv7-7126n   with a  Intel i5 2450M 2nd Gen  what 3rd generation can I put in it and does it make a difference   on it performance    and speed?

 

as I was told awhile ago it will take 2nd and 3rd CPU'S 35 Walt

Below is the link to the service manual for the dv7-7100 model series.

The list of 35W processors can be found in chapter 1.

 

The best processor you can install would be the Intel Core i7-3612QM 35W processor.

 

The 45W quad core processors require a different motherboard.

so the Intel Core i7-3612QM 35W will work in it 

 

that would be a nice increase from a i5

The i7-2670QM is not supported because it is a 45W processor.
