Same problem. The tech said the motherboard may be going bad. If you are having other problems and it is the motherboard, it is to expensive to replace. The tech said the cost was about $300.00. Another failing of this notebook is the graphic card comes loose from the motherboard. Very few repair shops can do the re-soldering. They could but it also was too expensive. $170.00.

Sell it quick. I had a Pavilion dv7 and it burned out the mother board, power source and processor. Problem is a design defect HP won't admit. My computer is a boat anchor now and HP gave me absolutely no service. NEVER, NEVER AGAIN HP !!!!
