My laptop is an HP Pavillion 15 cc665cl Product number 2GW63UA#ABA
I want to install an SSD. The HP repair manual for HP Pavillion 15 cc665cl lists the following as the SSD that will work:
512-GB, 2280, PCIe, NVMe solid-state drive HP part number 933706-004 Solid-state drive: For use only on computer models with model numbers 15-cc1xx and 15-cc6xx (I bought it at Costco)
I purchased a Sabrent rocker NVMe PCle M.2 2280 SSD
I created a recovery USB drive from my laptop.
I then removed the SATA drive and installed the SSD. It was a straightforward process.
So far so good. I rebooted the machine and commenced the installation. When I come to the step asking where to install windows, there was no drive to select. The system does not see any drive.
Could you assist? Thank you.

Page 2 of the Maintenance and Service Guide clearly says the series supports
Dual-storage configurations (pre-installed) :
● 2-TB, 5400-rpm, 7.2-mm hard drive + 128-GB, 2280 M.2 SATA-3 solid-state drive
● 1-TB, 5400-rpm, 7.2-mm hard drive + 256-GB, 2280 M.2 SATA-3 solid-state drive
● 1-TB, 5400-rpm, 7.2-mm hard drive + 128-GB, 2280 M.2 SATA-3 solid-state drive
Well, that is black and white. Now I put in red.
Regards.

Hi Banhien
I really appreciate your answer. Thank you!
I don't have significant storage requirements and I want to remove the existing drive and only use the SSD.
The service guide has the following:
For use only on computer models with model numbers 15-cc1xx and 15-cc6xx:
● 512-GB, 2280, Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe), Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe)
solid-state drive
● 256-GB, 2280, PCIe, NVMe solid-state drive
Can you clarify?
Thank you!

Hello Banhein
I have service guide: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06525445.pdf
Service guide http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05705784.pdf
appears to be the same. The difference is that c06525445.pdf shows an exception for 15 cc6xx series:
Solid-state drive:
For use only on computer models with model numbers 15-cc1xx and 15-cc6xx:
● 512-GB, 2280, Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe), Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) solid-state drive
● 256-GB, 2280, PCIe, NVMe solid-state drive
I have the 15 cc665cl and according to this manual it should work. These exceptions may be the Costco models.
I imagine this has caused a lot of trouble.
Despite this, the SSD is not recognized. I have used a recovery USB created off my laptop so all the drivers are there.
Any thoughts.

Hi, @Richardon
After doing a search on this topic in the forum, I have come to the conclusion that the service manual is incorrect regarding NVMe SSD support for the 15-cc6xx model series...
NVMe M.2 SSD not being detected by HP Pavilion 15-cc665cl - HP Support Community - 7949427
HP Pavilion - 15-cc665cl SSD help - HP Support Community - 6950522
I recommend you exchange the NVMe drive for a SATA one.
This model provides the best performance for the price...
NVMe M.2 SSD's are supported in the 15-cc1xx models...
