I have a 17 inch HP Pavillion that has literally been falling apart over the past year or so. The bottom part of it has been cracking off piece by piece, specifically, on the left side near the fan and left hinge. The cover for the disc drive has also cracked off, the touchpad barely works, and I have to click three to four times to be able to click on anything. My biggest issue now is the notorious left hinge, which, based on my searches, seems to be a huge issue for all HP laptops. It is an issue because now my screen is turning blue and I can't see anything that pops up, including things like the tast manager and other important things on my computer. I expect a little normal wear and tear but to see a machine fall apart so fast is ridiculous. I have old laptops two to three times the age of this one that at more structurally sound than this one. Any recommendations on how to get this thing fixed, at least temporarily, until I can afford to get a better quality laptop?

Just a heads up on the response from HP in case anyone reads this post and wants to know what happened. I was eventually contacted by someone from HP who informed me that unless a recall is eventually issued I would have to pay for the cost of repairs or pay the full cost of an extended warranty for the period of time I'm past my factory warranty. I informed him that there are thousands of people dealing with the issue of broken left hinges so this is clearly a design flaw that should be covered by HP and he pretty much just repeated himself.
So, in summary, HP isn't going to fix their mistake. Either take it to a repair shop and hope they can fix it for a reasonable price or buy replacement parts off ebay and fix it yourself.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

Hello kevin-t,
Thanks for the response. I'm not sure about the typical response time but I just wanted to let you know that I haven't received that private message yet.

@kevin-t - 4 days later and still no private message. Can you assist with this?
