HP ProBook 440 G8

I wonder if the HP ProBook 440 G8 can support drives larger than 1TB NVMe M.2 like the Kingston NV2 Gen 4 M.2 SSD 2TB, which is backwards compatible and has no heat issues.

Chapter 1 has the drive capacities HP offered in the model series.

 

It appears that HP offered PCIe Gen 3.0 NVMe SSD's up to 1 TB in storage capacity, but that is normally just what they offered, not the maximum capacity supported.

 

The Crucial SSD report indicates that they sell NVMe SSD's up to 4 TB for the 440 G8 model series:

 

HP ProBook 440 G8 | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial IN

 

While a PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD will work fine, it will not run at its maximum advertised read/write speeds from your PC's motherboard's Gen 3.0 slot.

 

This table shows the maximum transfer speeds each PCIe slot generation can support:
