HP ProBook 440 14 inch G9 Notebook PC (678R0AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi guys,

I have bought HP Probook 440 G9 for my employee.

So I had to upgrade this laptop ram from 8GB 1stick to 8GB with 2 stick on it.

DIMM1: Current ram is Micron 8GB 1rx16

DIMM2: Empty

Then I bought this ram

1. Crucial 8GB 1rx8 2400

2. Kingston 8GB 1rx16 3200

Based on my research (as far as I know) both are identical except the 1rx8 and 1rx16

So when slot in these each one of these. Only Kingston unable to load in. Just a black screen.

DIMM1: Micron 8GB 1rx16

DIMM2: Crucial 8GB 1rx8

Boot up.

DIMM1: Micron 8GB 1rx16 3200

DIMM2: Micron 8GB 1rx8 2400

Boot up.

DIMM1: Micron 8GB 1rx16 3200

DIMM2: Kingston 8GB 1rx8 3200

Did not boot up.

I even slot this Kingston only to see if it work or not.

DIMM1: Kingston 8GB 1rx8 3200

DIMM2: empty

Did not boot up.

Then just to confirm on this, I slot in another type of ram

1. SK Hynic 4GB 1rx16

DIMM1: SK Hynix 4GB 1rx16 2400

DIMM2: SK Hynix 4GB 1rx16 2400

Boot up.

And works perfectly. No issue.

Then I though maybe the Kingston had some issue, so I try to put in on other device (DELL). Surprisingly it work!

I'm not sure if there any other requirement for the ram. As far as I know, it support dual channel up to 3200. Didn't really mention about the brand. It just say use the same brand if more than one ram.

All volt is at 1.2

Hi:

All I can say is that the Crucial memory report for the 440 G9 indicates that this is the compatible 8 GB memory chip you need:

Crucial 8GB DDR4-3200 SODIMM | CT8G4SFRA32A | Crucial.com

Crucial memory is the consumer retail division of the Micron memory company.

Hi Paul,

That best I can do. is purchase Crucial 8GB 3200. I will update here later on.

Thanks.
