Hello!

yestarday I tried to open my laptop but it didn't start. i thought that maybe the battery was empty so i plugged the power cord, but nothing happened.

then I noticed the led near the power cord blinking orange. After a fast googling i came to this thread ( http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware/charging-light-blinking-problem-with-hp-probook-4530s... )

using the 8-step guide I managed to boot the laptop just to realise that it won't detect the power cord!

It was really strange, because when I noticed this, my battery was already at 2%!

I shut down the laptop, and tried to open it without the battery, it booted normally, but it still can't detect that the power cord is plugged in!!!!!

On the other thread some mentioned to update the bios, but in my case where it can't detect the power cord, that's impossible, because the procedure requires the laptop to be plugged in.

Now the laptop won't start normally, I have to keep the power button pressed for 40 secs and then plug the power cord. In addition it won't work only with battery, and that is my biggest problem!! :S

What should I do now?

Hello @sakisg4 ,

To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since the HP ProBook 4530s is a commercial product. You can do this here Notebook - HP ProBook, EliteBook, Compaq, Slate/Tablet PC, Armada, LTE

The support page for your product may be helpful in the meantime: HP ProBook 4530s.

I hope this helps!

Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

I just had 3 interesting hours with my HP,  I've basically tried everything except taking it to a customer services

I've read every topic that I could find about this issue even this one

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware/charging-light-blinking-problem-with-hp-probook-4530s...

my hp worked perfectly until tonight, when the battery died and it turned off, I couldn't start it up again the only thing that was showing was a white and orange blinking.

So what solved my problem, is that I took out my battery and pulled out the power cable waited couple of minutes and then returned battery and turned it on, and IT WORKED!

Put back in power cable and it's working properly so far!

I have a similar problem. When I take out the battery, unplug the cable, plug it back, turn on the computer and then insert the battery, it charges normally. But as soon as I unplug the cord and plug it back while the battery is in, the charging process stops whether the OS is loaded or not and the battery charge percentage starts to drop. I'm forced to turn the computer off and repeat the procedure described above again to charge the battery and use the AC power. I also get the orange charging LED blinking problem if I skip unplugging and replugging power cord after I take out the battery. The 8-step guide didn't fix my problem. I also tried to update my BIOS to the latest version (F.60) and repeat the steps again, but it didn't solve the problem either...

It turned out to be the AC adapter issue in my case. I recommend checking its output voltage and current on the appropriate load (if you can't do it by yourself, take it to the repair). If it's bad, I recommend repairing it or replacing it as soon as possible, since it might damage your laptop internals as well.
