A few months ago I was trying to save some money but taking some ram from a HP ProBook 650 G4 and putting it into my HP ProBook G11. It was all great until now. About 5 days ago I first started with a post error, 3 low beeps and 2 high beeps. I wasn't able to get it on until I removed the left ram slot, I forgot which one belonged to which laptop. I did the same thing again from a different G4, this time I was met with it not being able to start and when it did the screen would flash violently pink. I figured I would come here to really understand what I did. Are these ram stick inside of these two separate computers compatible? Do I have to buy separate ram for my G11? Let me know, cheers!

How did you even manage to get the older DDR4 memory from your ProBook 650 G4 to even fit in the DDR5 memory slots the 460 G11 comes with?
You need to use DDR5-5600 MHz memory.

I hope you didn't damage the memory slot or the system board.
DDR4 memory runs at a higher voltage than DDR5 memory does.

Hello TromboneGuy.
You obviously own one of the DDR4 variants of an otherwise DDR5 series. The 650 G4 also has DDR4 installed, just slower modules -usually 2400 or 2666 instead of 3200. They should be compatible with your new system, but will slow it down. What you're describing -especially the pink screen- doesn't really sound like ram module incompatibility. The recent post-G8 business laptops are very delicate systems when performing upgrades. I have no idea what went wrong there. It also doesn't make a lot of sense that you installed the RAM, it worked properly and then...at some point decided not to. Anyways, you should get the proper RAM, the one that will run at its full speed 3200.

OK, that makes sense.
The 450 G7 uses DDR4-2666 MHz memory and the 450 G8 uses DDR4-3200 MHz memory.
If you installed a DDR4-2666 MHz memory chip in your 450 G8, that is most likely the problem as to why the notebook isn't working correctly.
Yes, sometimes it just slows things down and both memory chips run at the lower speed but in some cases, the PC will not accept the slower memory in combination with the faster memory, or even alone.
The processor was not designed to run the memory at a slower speed than 3200 MHz.
DDR4 memory is not that expensive, and I recommend you install a DDR4-3200 CL22 memory chip in your notebook.
Chapter 1 of the service manual has the memory upgrade info.

You're very welcome.
I think you will need to buy DDR4-3200 memory like this:

Yes, thank you very much I will consider buying it when I can, one last question. Would it be possible to add the SK hynix 8GB 1Rx8 PC4-2666 or just replace both ram with two Samsung m471A1K43CB1 8gb? Excuse me for all the questions you've helped me a ton with my dying questions. Cheers!
