Hello,

I know that there a bunch of others that are experiencing or have had this same issue with the 15-CH000 laptop overheating.  What I would like to know is if HP has any kind of an extended warranty replacement program for this model because it is obviously a design issue.  I'm just upset because I bought this laptop brand new and kept it in a box until my last laptop died on me and then got it out to use it only to find that its a complete dudd!!  Now I'm passed my warranty period and am just hoping that HP has stepped up to fix this "well known" design flaw of theirs.  It was the first time that they implemented the Vega graphics and I7-8705G processor combo and the heat sink is just not large enough to accommodate the wattage and kills your computer.  Does anyone know if they have an updated heatsink or fans to fix this problem or is just garbage new out of the box?

The only thing that I have found to work partially is to set the "maximum processor percentage" in windows to 98% which gets rid of the processor "boost" and keeps it operating at the actual rated processor frequency.  After watching the variables on a hardware monitoring software I found that every time you boot the laptop the processor usage percentage goes straight to 100% plus the "boost" and stays there for waaaay to long before it slows the frequency down!  If I run the laptop without limiting the processor usage it is guaranteed to give me a blue screen TDR error within 10-15 minutes and is so hot you can barely touch it!

I am fairly computer savvy and have tried everything I can think of, and the sucker still just gets way to hot!

Please don't suggest any obvious things like bios updates, wiping the computer, or speedfan....what I would like to know is if there is a "recall" / warranty extension, or if there are updated components to fix the issue.  This is the second HP laptop that I have bought customized from their website that have been lemons brand new.  Come on HP, if you guys won't stand behind my unused $2400 laptop then I'm switching to Asus!

Hello @stalyun21

! Attention !

With constant overheating, the thermal paste for CPU, GPU and bridges

dries out and loses its function and must therefore be renewed !

If you do not change this condition, notebook/mainboard/components will suffer partial or total damage.

(1) In your case: Service is required !
- The computer should be disassembled and checked.
- Thermal paste for CPU GPU and bridges must be renewed

=> High quality thermal paste should be used ! <=

- The function of the fan(s) must be checked

- Short circuit test ( if required )

- charger/battery test

- Components test

- General cleaning ...
