Hello,

 

I am using an hp spectre I got back in 2016. It has an i7 processer, integrated graphics, and 16gb in ram. According to hp support assistant, it is an hp spectre -15. There is a thunderbolt 3 usbc port on the laptop, I have been trying to connect an Asus xg-station-pro so I could run some graphical simulations easier. The computer does not recognize anything connected to it through the thunderbolt slot, including other devices like the hp docking station. I also have thunderbolt Software(TM) installed, and thunderbolt controller, but I cannot access them in the search bar and am not sure where to find them in program files. They do not appear on the bottom right like I saw in some videos. 

 

Worst off, there are no thunderbolt 3 controller drivers on HPs website for this pc even though it clearly has a thunderbolt 3 port. I am at a loss as what to do, I have installed and uninstalled different items, updated the BIOS, and looked for a thunderbolt 3 driver and am worried any more tampering will brick my pc.

 

I'd like some assistance or at least some understanding as to what the possible issue is. What bothers me is that there are no thunderbolt drivers available for this pc when I enter the serial number even though there is a port.

My machine is HP Spectre x360 - 15-ap012dx (ENERGY STAR) Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support,

 

I notice the list of hardware does not show thunderbolt but I have a thunder symbol next to the usbc. However I found in a forum there is another symbol that can be mistaken for thunderbolt 3, is this true? If so I guess I may not have a thunderbolt 3 connection.
