HP Spectre x360 - 13-ae503tu

Hello All,

I have a HP Spectre x360 - 13-ae503TU machine that I got in 2018.

It doesn't seem to be switching on or charging. The light that indicates charging does not turn on. There is no light turning on even when I press the power button. I have tried the hard reset route of trying to fix the issue, but that hasn't helped. The charger is fine, and the laptop has a battery life of around 9 hours - it is a different battery to the original one but was changed by an official HP dealer.

 

What could have gone wrong with the machine? Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated.

What is the HP part number of the battery? 

 

Does the battery have an HP logo on it?

Yeah, the battery is an HP official battery. I had it replaced last October.

Since the machine is not under warranty anymore, I opened the laptop to check if there is anything I can figure out. It does seem like an issue with the motherboard. Issues like on pressing the power button, motherboard side being a bit on the hotter side. One fan running on one side. So for now just removed the storage so that I can back that up.

 

I just have one follow-up to this. I'm not sure whether the fan was running (basically some power in the system) while I unplugged the NVME SSD. From my understanding, NVMEs are supposed to be persistent and not have data corruptions if such accidents occur. Practically though, is it possible I lose data (I'll know an answer to this only once I get my NVME reader)?

Data loss with the NVMe SSD is a maybe.

 

No data loss is when hot-plugging is enabled and we do not know if that was the case with your laptop.
