HP Spectre x360 13-ae091ms
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Laptop is only 17 months old and will no longer charge.  No light when plugged.  I was able to test with another power cord, same issue.  How do I obtain a replacement systemboard for a laptop that is out of warranty?

The HP Service Center locally stated they don't do hardware.

Systemboard part: 941883-001

Looking at HP spare parts site, it states I can't order a new one from that source.  So, how do I obtain a replacement?  I'm assuming the charging is through the systemboard and not other hardware within the laptop.  Is that correct?

Thank you,

Brad

After a very long process to find out how to contact HP support, I was able to obtain a phone number.  The website and virtual assistance kept circling.  Especially since there is no warranty.

The end result is that I can’t get a system board, I have to ship the laptop to HP to replace.  The initial quote was over 75% of what the original cost of the laptop was.  Fortunately, the agent was able to provide a discount.  The cost was about a 1/3rd of the total and while I don’t like it, it is cheaper than buying a new one.

If this laptop was 3 years old, I would be somewhat ok with a repair that isn’t covered by HP, but not for a laptop that is only 1.5 years old AND this is a known, documented problem with these laptops, as noted in this community.

Unfortunately, due to this experience and lack of support by HP, I won’t be buying any future products from HP.

HP does not recommend making changes on the system board however, you can make changes at your own discretion.

I would personally suggest you contact our HP Support.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP.

They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number

Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact.

Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
