Exact same problem as so many others have had!
Went to plug my laptop in to charge last night and it simply would not work. I tested out my flatmates HP charger to see if it was the charger itself at fault but that also did not charge the laptop. It’s not battery as lights were still blinking.
After doing some research I’ve found that so many others have had the same issue with the Spectre. I bought this late 2020, early 2021 and after about 2 years of usage, it seems the charging port no longer works.
I am a student and need this laptop to work reliably for University and it is incredibly disappointing to see so many others run through the same problem.
I no longer have a warranty but I see no reason as to why HP cannot cover the cost of getting this repaired as a design flaw cannot be blamed on user error.
What can we do to have this actioned please?

Hi @xxmm3x,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that you are facing battery charging issues with your HP Spectre Notebook.
I suggest that you follow the steps listed below to test the battery:
- Turn on the computer.
- Search for and open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows.
- If the app is not installed on your computer or if you have not updated it recently, download the latest version. See What if my computer does not have the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows? for more information.
- In the list of Component Tests, click Power.
- Select Battery Check, and then click Run once.
- Wait while the test is in progress. The Battery Test takes about two minutes.
- Click Finish on the Component Tests page.
- Select Test Logs to see the results of the battery test.
You may also check this document for Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows).
I hope this helps and have a nice day ahead.
