My HP Spectre x360 suddenly would not charge today. It is an older model (13-4103dx, bought in summer 2016), so it does not have a USB-c port. I noticed that the charging cord now wiggles when it is in the port (I suppose that could be expected from a laptop that is almost 6 years old), so damage within the port may be the issue?
I was using it as I normally would, and when I received a notification for Low battery, I plugged it in. However, it would not charge. Typically, the amber LED would come on, but this did not happen. It has run out of battery since then, and I do not know what to do at this point.
Does anyone have experience with this issue? Were you able to replace a part within the charging port or take it somewhere to get repaired? Was it a different issue than what I am suspecting? At this point, I have ordered a replacement power connector cable and plan to replace it on my own upon receiving the part.
It's no longer my primary laptop but I do have newer files/versions that I would like to have access to, even briefly, to move them to my drive. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear you're having the same issue-- it's quite frustrating. I know that it's not my charger either as it functioned correctly to charge my friends HP.
I'm taking it in to a repair shop today for a diagnostic and I will post here if I receive any information from them.

You can check it on your own by slightly moving the charger tip to one side or the other while watching the charge light. If the jack has been getting sloppy, they tend to work if moved around at the beginning of the degradation process. If it has been doing it for a while, and you keep wiggling it around it will fail completely at times.
But if it just started doing it, wiggling will give you a strong indication that you need a new jack. They are cheap and can be replaced with decent skills. If it's not the jack, then most likely the charging circuit on the motherboard.
