I bought my daughter the Spectre x360 for her University Architecture program a year and a half ago.
I was looking for a powerful laptop that would allow her to manage the demands of the graphics and rendering that she would require in her program. The Spectre with it's processor, storage and memory along with the ability to use a pen were a perfect fit.
A year and a half into her program, the computer died. I took it to a repair facility and they tell me that they cannot fix it, that the motherboard is dead and would have to be replaced.
I see on this board others with exactly the same issues. I can't believe that this could happen so soon. I work in computers and I can't remember a laptop dying like this so soon. This is clearly a manufacturing issue.
We bought our daughter a special backpack and case so that she would make sure that the computer was well cared for and she would have it for a long time. Now we are told that we could expect $6-$700 to replace the motherboard.
My daugher really loves this computer and I just purchased an x360 13 inch so that she would have something to work with in the meantime (over $2,000.00) and now I wonder whether I can expect the same with this new computer as well.
As you can see, I have now spent over $4,000.00 in the past couple of years on HP laptops and am wondering if I made the right decision.
HP, you need to do something to make this right !
