I just purchased a 16GB RAM, 512GB Drive I7 HP Spectre x360.
It also has constant fan noise. I worked with HP Support and they updated the latest BIOS, with little change.
There are no obvious runaway processes. The fan continues to run, almost continuously, even when doing little to no processing. I had a 3 year old Spectre and never had this issue...
HELP!!!

Hi!
Like you I'm a Spectre x360 user, I'm from Italy.
Is it the Skylake version or Kaby Lake?
Did you turned off the fan in the bios options?
What power scheme is set on Windows?
Can you post a screen of the task manager, to check if is there an abnormal CPU usage?
Thanks, I'll try to help.

Not sure what you're referring to with the "lake" versions.
Have tried Active & Passive for CPU power settings, no real change.
WHat are you referring to for the BIOS fan settings?
Here is a sample Task Manager output, when the fan is blowing strong: Thx

Hi,
I think I found a solution. I recently bougt a Hp Pavilion X360 with 7th Gen i7 and 8GB ram.
The first night the ventilator was blowing like fire. So I went on Google and found a link of HP that said that I need to update my BIOS. So I did, but after the update it was still blowing constantly.
And then I found on my computer a weird thing, it's called: HP CoolSense.
HP CoolSense helps the ventilator in different circumstances so the notebook can preform better. Nah, I was thinking I didn't even open a program why is it blowing like hell. BLING the HP CoolSense just doesn't work how he should work. And then I did the magic switch.......... I turned it off.
After I turned it off it was so quite, I dropped a tear!
CONCLUSION:
TURN OFF HP COOLSENSE!!!!!
Thanks.
Let me know if it worked for you:smileyhappy:

I did a complete refresh/clean installation of Windows and noticed the fan noise problem as well. It went away when I installed the Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Client Driver, so make sure you try that (or update it). It has to be installed manually if you've performed a clean installation of Windows.
