I just got the 16GB / 1 TB x360 spectre and have the annoying fan noise too. It comes whether it's Edge or Chrome and i have very few tabs open and programs and the fan randomly comes on. It's pretty irritating as the lenovo i used to have was very quiet. I think this may be a deal breaker and I have to return the Spectre. Any fixes for this? Someone told me it may be the Norton AntiVirus. I removed it and the issue persists.

The design and features of this laptop was really something I loved when I bought it but if I had to buy a similar laptop today, sure I ll challenge other brands , many can flip the screen as this one and I am sure that lighter models exist.

I've the Spectre x360 core i7, 256gb ssd, 8gb ram, QHD display.
Latest bios F43, latest GPU drivers updated from device manager.
My unit is behaving normally. Fan turn on when the temperature raise up, and it could happen even when you browse the web.
Many websites are not optimized and have a lot of ads, flash ads, and so on.
Edge has some flaws in my opinion, which could cause an high cpu usage.
I suggest to remove McAfee, it's very heavy in terms of resource usage. You can disable the fan always on in the bios too, or modifying the cpu cooling behaviour from active to passive, as suggested by previous posts.
YOu have to look to cpu usage in task mananger too, because if your OS has some problems in terms of apps, registry and so on the CPU can go high in usage and cause the fan to raise the rpm.
My fan is perfectly normal, spin up faster when using a lot of tabs and when doing heavy cpu/gpu tasks.
Often the problem is in the OS and what you installed in the OS (apps, background services, malware, adware, old drivers, buggy drivers, and so on).
I think this could vary from user to user, someone is too sensible to noise, which is my case, but the fan of my Spectre is very quiet even at full speed.
Do a temperature check with HWInfo64 and looks at cores usage too.

I had the same issue with Convertibles from ASUS (Zenbook Flip UX360UA).
So now my question is: Is this problem also appearing on the HP Spectre x360 with 15 inch Display (HP Spectre x360 15-ap006ng)?
I would really much appreciate an answer, as I'm quite depressed myself after several returns.
Greetings

Happy New Year to you! Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.
I understand that you have an HP Spectre x360 15-ap006ng and would like to know if the fan noise is known issue on this model. I'd like to assist you with this case.
I did some research and would like to mention that this is not a known issue for this laptop model. However, if you ever face a noisy fan issue, then I recommend you to perform the steps mentioned in this link. These steps are tried and tested by us and have helped: Fan is Noisy and Spins Constantly.
Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Cheers! 🙂
