Why is HP still making something that is not fit for purpose? If it is only a glorified tablet, why is it being sold as a laptop? Even as a tablet it's chronically slow opening emails and websites. Are there any hacks which will improve these things? Does using an sd card for storage actually help (seen on a post from a couple of years ago)?
This is the Argos ad for the HP Stream laptop:

This is the response from HP Support:
[12:51, 06/05/2020] GH: Hi, I bought two laptops from Argos on 23/3/20 (s/n: 5CDXXXXXXR & 5CDXXXXXXP) as my children needed them to access school work as a result of the lockdown. I can’t tell you how utterly useless these laptops are, barely fit for purpose. Having loaded the bare minimum (Office 365) and saved a small number of documents to them, they are have now run out of storage and barely open Google. Despite having run Storage Sense and deleted everything possible there is 143mb of available space on one and 285mb on the other. Is there an upgrade or an exchange we can arrange to replace them with something which can actually access online learning and allow for school work to be saved? Many thanks.
[12:55, 06/05/2020] HP Support UK: I understand that you are reporting storage issue with the HP Stream Laptop.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused. The HP Stream laptop is designed to work in tablet mode for browsing purpose and not for storage. It is shipped with 32GB SSD hard drive and most of the space it utilized for BIOS, Graphics and windows operating system and hence you see difference in the storage space.
We do not have option to replace or upgrade the model, however if you need more info of replacement or upgrade then please contact the place of purchase.
[12:58, 06/05/2020] GH: OK, so it's not really a laptop then? It's pretty useless online as well, I have an ancient iPad loading google faster than these "laptops". Is there nothing you can offer as the manufacturer? Still waiting for a response...
