Common problems for Battery

Microsoft Windows 11

I replaced the battery on my HP Pavilion and when I ran the battery check on the Support Assistant app, it wanted me to calibrate the battery. I followed all the steps but it still gave me the same message. I calibrated it manually (pressing f2 on restart and following the steps) but it's still giving me the same message on the HP Support Assistant app. I'm all out of options and I don't know what else to do.

Should I just leave it like that or is there something else I can do?

The battery is an HP battery, so not some sort of knock off (if that helps).

Welcome to the HP User Community.

Were it mine to do, I'd just ignore the HP Support Assistant.

Certainly, even assuming calibration is warranted at all, once is generally enough.

According to your Software and Drivers setup, this computer is not supported in Windows 11.  This is not a disaster, of course - it simply means you are dependent on Windows Updates to keep the system running as it ought.

That the HP software is not supported in your current Operating System version matters little with regard to the device hardware (battery check?).  The confused message is perhaps symptomatic that the Assistant is less useful on an unsupported machine.

I calibrated the battery in the  HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI, and it said Calibration - Complete. Should I just assume that it's calibrated even tho the Support Assistand app says otherwise?

Sorry I'm new to all this. I had a free upgrade to windows 11 on my laptop and I updated it, didn't expect some apps to not be compatible with it.

Thank you for the reply btw, it's really helpful and eased my mind a little because I was a but worried I messed something up.

Anytime you change the version of Windows you are running, there are going to be both expected and unexpected results of the change.

Once you get used to the few but jarring differences, Windows 11 is usable and might even suit your sense of "this is OK".

The HPSA insistence that the calibration is necessary when it is not needed appears to be some sort of error.

The error MIGHT be the result of the machine not being fully supported for HP software and drivers or it could just be some random error generated in that particular part of the HPSA.  Meh - nice code - not perfect.

Ignore it.

Possible Fixes / adjustments that might tame (better control) the HPSA ...

Open the HP Support Assistant > Settings

Open drop-down menu  More Settings

Check, If set to ON >> Switch OFF "Automatically diagnose and fix..." option

Section Software Updates Settings

Switch OFF the setting that checks for Updates - you don't need it - the machine is not supported and there won't be "updates".

Example - HP Support Assistant - Settings

HPSA_App_Settings_Auto-Updates_6HPSA_App_Settings_Auto-Updates_6

==========================================================================

What else?

The HPSA application will normally update itself when needed to stay current.

You can, if you like, uninstall the application entirely - or uninstall / restart / reinstall

Will that "fix" anything?  Sometimes it does so - the application can become corrupted so reinstalling might make a difference.

FIRST

Uninstall the HP Support Assistant Application

Settings > Apps > Apps and Features

Search or scroll down and find HP Support Assistant

Select the unwanted program  > Uninstall the software

NEXT

OPTIONAL

Open from Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features

If found, Uninstall HP Support Solutions Framework software

Restart the computer and log in.

Final Check – Software / Application is Removed

After the software is uninstalled (and the computer is Restarted), check to ensure the software is actually “gone”.

Settings > Apps > Apps & features

If the software / application is found > Click to select, then Uninstall

Restart the computer and log in.

Download, Save, Install the latest supported HP version of the HP Support Assistant
