HP 11 inch Tablet PC 11m-be0000 (47Z80AV)

The above tablet was switched off for a few months. Tried charging and restarting it. It's not powering up. Standard repair shops are not accepting as it doesn't contain screws to replace the battery. Any advice? It was a gift hence almost brand new and hardly used.

Hi @RogerX2023,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 11-inch tablet PC is not powering up after being switched off for a few months, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try before considering more advanced repair options.

Charge the Tablet:

  • Ensure that you are using the original charger and cable that came with the tablet.
  • Connect the tablet to a power source for an extended period, at least a couple of hours, to make sure the battery has a chance to charge.

Reset the Tablet:

  • Sometimes a soft reset can resolve issues. To perform a soft reset, press and hold the power button for about 10-15 seconds. Release the button and then try turning the tablet on again.

Check for Physical Damage:

  • Inspect the tablet for any physical damage, such as a cracked screen or water damage.

Connect to a Computer:

  • Connect the tablet to a computer using a USB cable and see if the computer recognizes the device. If it does, it may indicate a display or power button issue rather than a battery problem.

Update Firmware/Software:

  • If possible, check for any available firmware or software updates for your tablet model. Updating the software might resolve compatibility issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Considering that the tablet is likely over two years old, there are a few possibilities.

If the power/charge LED does not come on when the original power adapter is connected:

the battery may have no more service life

The system board may need to be reset

the power adapter could have failed or is not the original power adapter.

The system board may have a failure in the battery charging/power distribution circuits.

One common reset for all Tablet types and brands is the following method:

unplugging the battery, pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds and then plugging the battery back in.

Once that is done, try charging and/or powering the tablet on.

I own one of the original 8" HP Tablets and mine did the very same. I had to remove the rear cover and reset it. If I can find a video that shows how this is done for your tablet, I will post it here. No luck on a  reset video.

Replacing the battery is something any decent cell phone repair shop can do. Anyone who can repair a cell phone can replace the battery.
