HP Thunderbolt Dock 280W G4 w/Combo Cable

Dear all,

The problem I am reporting is not being fixed.

Not an hour goes by without being interrupted for 10 or 20 seconds by both monitors, sometimes one and then the other.

What I did to solve this issue is:

  • update the laptop graphics card to the latest version
  • I changed the cables to add connectivity to the HP Thunderbolt Dock 280W G4 I bought new cables HDMI-DP
  • tested the connectivity on monitor with HP Thunderbolt Dock 280W G4 and one directly with the HDMI laptop
  • updates firmware with the lates version for HP Thunderbolt Dock 280W G4

Thes issues is not just at my part is on all of my colleagues that have the same HP Thunderbolt Dock 280W G4. Is there a way to replace this part of the equipment or is there a way to request from HP Dev to develop a new firmware so this issue can be fixed.

Waiting for your instruction

Dear HP Support,

As you requested the product and serial number of the equipment's that I have:

Laptop: S/N: 5CD24632HJ and P/N: 4T503AV

HP Duking:  S/N: 5CG238N3JM and P/N: M88252-001

As I mention, the issues are when I connect 2 monitors with the HP Duking the monitories go to sleep for 10 sec.

I have changed the cables, from HDMI - HDMI to HDMI - DP, and the same issue is appearing, the Hz of the monitories is 60Hz and when I connect with the Duking, I received 59.95Hz.

The new firmware update didn't fix this, what to do, do advice?

Hi @A4H1,

Thank you for your response,

There are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue with your HP ZBook Power not connecting to the Thunderbolt Dock 280W G4.

  • Check that the Thunderbolt drivers are up to date on your ZBook Power. You can download the latest Thunderbolt software and drivers from the HP website.
  • Ensure that your Thunderbolt Dock 280W G4 has power and is properly connected to your ZBook Power. You can try disconnecting and reconnecting the dock to make sure the connection is secure.
  • Verify that the Thunderbolt port on your ZBook Power is enabled in the BIOS. You may need to enter the BIOS settings and enable Thunderbolt connectivity.
  • Check if the Thunderbolt Dock 280W G4 is compatible with your ZBook Power. You can refer to the specifications of both devices to ensure they are compatible.
  • Try resetting the Thunderbolt Dock 280W G4. You can do this by unplugging the dock from power, unplugging all cables from the dock, and then holding down the power button on the dock for 15 seconds before plugging everything back in.

If you would like to thank us for our efforts to help you, please go to the public post and click on "Accepted Solution" and give us a virtual high-five by clicking on the "Thumbs Up" icon.

Take care and have a great day ahead!
