I accidentally uninstalled my camera driver. I have tried everything, but still no driver can be found for the camera. I tried to download it from the HP official website, but it couldn't be found for the HP 15 notebook. Can anybody tell where I can find the driver or how I can install it back?

@Mohit_b, Hi there, and welcome to HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out with your concern. I'm glad to assist you today.

If you've accidentally uninstalled your HP TrueVision HD camera driver and can't find it on the HP website for your HP 15 Notebook, don't worry, here are several ways to restore it:

Use Windows Update (Recommended First Step)

Many HP camera drivers are delivered through Windows Update:

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update
  • Click Check for updates
  • Install any available updates and restart your PC

Use HP Support Assistant (Automatic Detection)

HP Support Assistant can detect your device and install the correct drivers:

Reinstall via Device Manager

If the driver was uninstalled:

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager
  • Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras
  • If you see HP TrueVision HD Camera, right-click and choose Uninstall device
  • Restart your PC - Windows should reinstall the driver automatically

If the camera is not listed:

  • In Device Manager, click Action > Scan for hardware changes

Manually Download from HP Website

  • Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page
  • Enter your exact HP 15 model number (e.g., HP 15s-fqxxxx)
  • Select your Windows version
  • Look under Driver – Camera and download the available driver

Check Camera Privacy Settings

Sometimes the camera is disabled via privacy settings:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera
  • Ensure Camera access and Let apps access your camera are turned On

Thank you for replying @Max3Aj. But I have tried every solution. Windows is not updating due to 22h2 update error. If someone has downloaded driver it will help as I will be able to manually install the driver
